CIdney Clowdsley
Cidney Clowdsley –
“The Piper’s Nyd”
Cidney’s father was a 7th
generation bagpiper
who often referred to her as Nyd or Nydney
growing up, thus, the name of her “business”
... she IS the pipers Nyd.
Cidney Clowdsley is originally from North Carolina, but being the daughter of a career officer in the
armed forces, there was never a true home base until moving to the Northwest from Spain in 1981. In
her early years, her heart was in classical dance. Art has always been a great passion in various forms in
her life. Mostly self-taught in art, she has also sought formal training in acrylic painting with both
abstract and plein air genres.
In the last 20 years, Cidney has sold acrylic paintings in various venues such as craft shows or area art
shows. Most recently, she has been selling acrylic paintings in Langley. At the same time, she
developed a creative wall hanging that has taken off. She has sold 350 pieces in the last 2 years along
with many custom projects. Never intending this to be a “thing”, she simply called these creations,
“sticks”. She does not tend to duplicate the sticks so they truly are one of a kind. She uses acrylics,
beads, clay, and anything interesting she can find to make something interesting! Many of the toppers
are hand made or hand painted as well. She gets great joy out of doing this and truly loves the fact that
others get joy out of them as well. Its what keeps it going...
